“Vintage” Dev Diary #2

I found that the best testing ground for this is probably my room in my new place. I room with 3 guys and my projector is sitting there with my laptop. Perfect to test out the ‘10 foot’ interface I’m working on.  The only problem is my laptop can’t run the ‘ideal’ emulator perfectly with sounds (which makes it more fun). So this morning I tried to jury rig another emulator ‘snesgt’ (which I also respect) into the setup. It worked…but exiting it was really nasty and slow and disabled Aero Glass and…well it just won’t do.

Now, when I tried to switch my batch file back to use bsnes…it no longer starts in full screen. Whoops. Forwards and backwards progress.  But if I can get the interface where my roommates can easily ‘pick up and play’ without messing with a KB/Mouse that would be a WIN!

I may just end up having to use (shudder) zsnes at my apt…

The other loose end is I need a way to make a ‘EXIT’ button. It may end up being an arcade style button on the case of the unit or something a little more ghetto than that. Just need a macro program. ‘Autohotkey’ is apparently the thing to get for that. It looks intimidating…but REALLY powerfull…..REALLY powerfull. you can tell it to close windows by name and all sorts of stuff that might be really usefull…or just too much. Peace. Oh, and hopefully I can capture/upload a video soon showing how it works right now with narration.
